Savannah City Docks at Eastern Wharf - Savannah, GA – Located 8 StM up the Savannah River from the ICW, the is approximately 730’ of floating dock offering access to one of Savannah’s newest developments. The docks are free but contain no amenities such as water or electricity. Easter Wharf contains restaurants, shops, a park, residential areas and a hotel.

 

The City of Savannah has offered Free Docking for 48 hours since July 2022. Per Shawn Emerson, the Dockmaster, this special will be discontinued on March 15, 2024, and the dock will be closed to visitors during the annual St. Patrick’s Day weekend. The dock will reopen on March 18, 2024, and return to the official policy is that boats can dock free for 3 hours only.

 

The recreational dock is first-come, first-served, no reservations accepted. Pleasure boats may dock overnight for a transient fee of $1.50 per foot. Fees are paid at the Parking Services Department located at 100 East Bryan Street. Signage is available at the docks with additional information. See photos linked below for picture of sign.

  

Plan ahead and add extra fenders as the Savannah River is a busy seaport with large container ship as well as local ferries and riverboat tours. Electricity is available. Water is not available.

 

Boaters can use the public walkway to reach the popular River Street area .6 StM upriver from Eastern Wharf, or access the free to use Savannah Belle Ferry which stops at nearby Waving Girl Landing only .2 StM away near the Marriott Savannah Riverfront Hotel. Savannah City Docks at Rousakis Riverfront Plaza, GA – Located 8.6 miles from ICW in the heart of River Street the city offers first come first serve, 300 total feet of modern floating dock. These docks provide an excellent access for the popular River Street shops and restaurants. The City of Savannah operates a water ferry system providing free passage across the Savannah River between downtown’s riverwalk and Hutchinson Island, home of the Westin Resort and the Savannah Convention Center.

Darien City Dock Darien, GA – Located 11 miles inland off the ICW are two independently operated docks. Below or east of the bridge is the Darien River Waterfront Park & Docks owned and operated by the McIntosh County Industrial Development Authority (MCIDA). Above or west of The Highway 17 fixed bridge (31' vertical clearance) is the dock is owned by the City of Darien. The City of Darien Dock is a free dock with a 6 hour limit of use. This dock is unattended and does not offer water or electricity. A waterfront park, restaurants, marine hardware store, bank, post office, fuel and convenience store are all located within an easy walk of both docks. A grocery store is located 1.26 miles from the docks. Contact the Deborah at City of Darien for additional information.

Glynn County Gascoigne Bluff Park, St. Simons Island, GA – Located 1.7 miles off the ICW on the Frederica River and 360’ before reaching the 9’ vertical restricted height Torras Causeway Bridge, the 50’ of floating concrete dock located at Gascoigne Bluff Park will accommodate 1 or 2 boats. The fixed pier is for fishing and the floating dock is for boats. Park rules instruct Anglers to clear their lines and yield to boaters on the floating dock. It is advisable to be courteous and work with fishermen if they are present. Hours of operation are sunrise to sunset with a two hour limit for docking. Overnight docking is not allowed.

Restroom facilities, waterfront picnic pavilion, and grills are available. This large park is an excellent location to walk pets and is located 1 mile from restaurants and a grocery store. Approximately 1,200’ north of the public dock is the St. Simon’s Boating & Fishing Club Marina where fuel is available.

712.4 StM                                   NEW LISTING AS OF DECEMBER 15, 2020

St. Marys, GA Town Dock - Located 5.25 StM off the ICW, Historic St. Marys offers a modern parallel 48-1/2’ town dock located in Howard Gilman Memorial Waterfront Park adjacent to the public boat ramp with room for 4 to 6 boats. It is suggested that you contact Knuckleheads Kayak Adventures, also located at the town dock, to check for availability. Stays are limited to six hours. St. Marys will start construction of a transient dock in 2021. Information will be updated as available.
